Country: Chad
Location: Southern Chad (Gore, Maro, Moissala and Mbaibokoum)
Impact: 3,000 Trees
Project
TreeForLife
Chad hosts more than one million Central African refugees. These refugees have been living in camps in southern Chad for more than a decade and are now in a long-term integration process. The populations of the refugee camps are confronted with several environmental, social, cultural, and economic problems, but the most dangerous one is that of the environment; which has harmful consequences on the population. Thus, the reforestation of fruit trees will have a double impact, namely improving the food intake by increasing the consumption of diversified fresh fruits and vegetables and protecting the environment.
The objectives of the TreeForLife project, are defined in three points:
-
To contribute to the protection of the environment
-
To improve the food ration by increasing the consumption of diversified fruits
-
To ensure self-sufficiency in fruit and improve the balance of trade
Project Impact
-
3,000 Trees Planted
-
1,000 People to receive training in sustainable agricultural practices
-
18,000+ Total Beneficiaries (Based on Area Population)
Project staff will visit households every two weeks to monitor the tree growth process and provide maintenance support.
